The VIP LOUNGE RADIO GROUP was founded in 2015 as a way of giving support and company to isolated people living with sight loss. We launched our first radio station on 5th December, from Media City in Salford, England. We were then and still are the only online radio station to have done this.

Initially fully staffed by volunteer Visually Impaired people, broadcasting to a target audience of other Visually Impaired People, it soon became clear that we were appealing to a more mainstream audience with listenership growing each week.

We relaunched the station on October the 1st 2023, now being based in Cardiff.

We have always been supported by industry professionals from both here in the UK as well as the US.

We work with David Arnold Productions and Ignite Jingles, who made our stations on air imaging, as well as the Radio News Hub, who produce all of our news, sport, business and showbiz output, including weather updates.

Our listenership continues to steadily grow week on week.

We have now launched a second station, THE VIP LOUNGE XTRA, which serves as a replay service for shows that have mostly already aired at THE VIP LOUNGE ONLINE.

Our staff have grown to over 30 members from the world of TV, commercial Radio and the BBC.

No longer are we all sight impaired either, as we believe full integration is of paramount importance.

Next year we aim to take the station onto a DAB platform.

We are already helping charities and communities, as we have raised funds for Young Carers and supported a little boy with his efforts to raise money for The little Princess Trust. So far our listeners have contributed over £2,000 to good causes.
